PV System directly converts solar energy into electricity. The basic building block of a PV system is the PV Cell, which is a semiconductor device that converts solar energy into direct current (DC) electricity. The main components of grid tied system are modules, inverters, electrical components and PV module mounting system.
Solar inverter converts the DC power to AC power to facilitate feeding to the regular loads. The Inverter is the most complicated part of the PV system. It acts as the interface between the PV ray and the grid. As the PV array output varies with the solar radiation, MMPT charge controller has to follow the I-V curve to maximize the yield. The MPPT shall be of Microproessor based to minimize power losses. The inverter has protection features for overvoltage, under voltage, surge. The output from the inverter will be fed to the AC distribution Board.
